I bought the American tackle aw12 seat with the Burl wood insert but it's too small for the blank. Is it ok to ream out the wood insert a bit to fit the blank? Maybe with the dremel or with some sandpaper? It's a close fit but not loose enough for my comfort. Thanks Re: Fly seat help

Just run a tapered reamer or round bastard file through it a few times. Choose a file that's a close fit and run it up until it makes contacts with the walls of the wood then work it in a twisting motion.
Before checking for fit, make sure to blow out the bore to ensure you don't have any grit in there that could scratch your blank. ............. Re: Fly seat help

Use the reamers with the tape, and not the grit You can also make your own out of scrap blank sections Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/10/2010 09:33PM by bill boettcher. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
