Sage 7'9" 3wt. LL series

I answered an earlier post and reminded me of a question to ask others. I fell in love with the 7'9" 3wt. LL series from Sage, but as you know they D/C'd that line. The VPS-L (replacement) doesn't hold a candle to it. I have searched and asked around, tried different rods, but never found a comparable rod. Anyone have suggestions as to a comparison rod? Or does anyone have an old 793LL laying around?

I do not know if this will fit your bill but I have one of the older St Croix Legend [black finish] rods which is a 7'9" 3 wt and it is a very nice rod. I know they now make it as part of their SCIV line [green finish].

I have not fished or cast the sage you mention so I cannot compare the two. Maybe you can find a dealer who has the St Croix and give it a test cast to compare?

Are you sure? I guess we should contact Sage specifically, but I was told different from you. If the material, taper etc is "exactly the same" then it must be a mental thing for me, because it sure doesn't feel the same. Anyone know for sure on the list? Vendors?

My mistake, must have been the moment or something. I am going to go cast another VPSLL this week and see what I think. What supplier carries these blanks?
