Hi guys
I am building a 2-6kg 7 foot cts spin blank, fast taper. Have ordered a range of guide sizes to work with up to the choke guide. What is the best choke through to tip size likely to be? I run 8lb daiwa braid and use a 2500 size reel. Cheers Re: Guide size

If there are no leader knots to pass, you can easily use size 4's with braid, perhaps even smaller. But 4's are a safe bet.

Tom's advice is solid!
But if you want to go smaller I use 2mm running guides with 30 lb. braids, with that reel and same rod length Re: Guide size

I would echo Steve and Tom's comments. You can very easily use the size 4's. I am running size 3 running guides on a rod using a size 3000 diawa and 8lb. XPS Flourocarbon....so braid will be no problem.
Also, last season I ran 12 lb braid on that rod w/ a 10' section of flouro joined w/ a surgeons knot...the size 3 guides passed the knot fine. I just switched to strait flouro this season to give it a try. Scott Sheets www.smsrods.com Re: Guide size

I am amazed at how small you can go and still have excellent results. But at some point there will be diminishing returns in terms of ease of use and what you gain by going much smaller. The size 4 guides seem like a good compromise all the way around. They should be light enough to get you some benefit in casting performance. Re: Guide size

Please excuse my ignorrance but the fuji Australia site and the site I am ordering off only have guided down to size 7mm. Are you perhaps revering to radius? As in Australia guide six is measured by diameter.
Thanks Andy Re: Guide size

Andy -
You are correct that LV style guides only go down to 7mm. If you are looking to build a "micro guide" style layout ... look at BYAG's for your larger guides and use BLAG's for your running guides. You will find BLAG guides down to 4mm. Re: Guide size

I still can't seem to find guides in 4mm. The smallest are fuji TSGL in 5mm. Would these suit?
