On a fly rod reel seat that has the upper hood recessed, should the inside of the upper hood be epoxied to the insert, the outside of the hood be epoxied to the inletted part of the cork handle, or both? Or neither? Since the bottom hood "floats", I assume one of the hoods should be anchored in line with the guides. I've not used a reel seat of this type before. Re: fly reel seat question

I epoxy the upper hood to the barrel insert so it won't move. When I slide the grip down over it I put just a bit of epoxy in there to get it to bond to the hood. So I guess my answer is both. No idea if I am doing this right but it seems to work and I have not had anything come loose yet. Re: fly reel seat question

I do both. Seems safer to me with the thinner thickness of the cork handle recess that it should be epoxied to the hood. Then needs to be epoxied to the wood barrel to prevent twisting the cork during reel seat torque. Just my two cents worth. Mike Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
