Recipe for gold and silver on printer

Someone recently posted a recipe for a gold and silver on an inkjet by manipulating the color %. Could that person repost or if someone remembers. Does anyone have this a RGB versus the other. My simple software, as far as I can tell only allows me to manipulate RGB, or I don't know how to find the other

You will have a hard time doing it with RGB. CMYK is the only way I have found to get a nice tone that is almost metallic. At any rate, here are the percentages I have come up with -

Gold
C-18%
M-37%
Y-81%
K-6%

Silver
C-9%
M-3%
Y-0%
K-48%

Bronze
C-24%
M-60%
Y-81%
K-12%

If you have a Macintosh and your ink jet or laser supports the ColorSync standard, you will find these percentages dead on for these colors. If you have a PC its a bit of a crapshoot, but you can still do it. You'll have to just print a few test swatches and adjust the percentages until you get what you want.

For more information on this sort of thing, consult the Nov/Dec 2000 RodMaker.

I have seen special foil printing kits in the office supply stores that are made for use in home ink jet and laser printers. I am not exactly sure how they work or how well. But it is something you could look into if you wanted. The sheets are definitely metallic and I assume the foil comes off in whatever you would normally print in ink.

What software or printers enable CMYK adjustments? I have PC based and a Epson 880 at home a HP 970Cxi at work. Any ideas?

You would probably need some type of desktop publishing or image editing software.
