Looking to purchase a new rod lathe if I can come up with the bucks.
Do the Clemens or Renzetti come with a motor? Which options are needed and which are best?

Various motor options are available with both. On either one I would highly recommend the 1/10 Dayton with solid state foot control. Enough power to shape about anything you would want to shape on a light duty lathe, and yet very responsive for wrapping.

If you want to extend the capabilities of the lathe, get a live center, a boring tailstock and tool rest and it becomes an all-in-one rod building center. Now you can not only wrap, but also bore, turn and shape things like seat inserts, butt caps and plugs, hosels, reel seat arbors, etc.

The 1/10hp is a good choice. The motor that you choose will depend on what operations you will be doing. Our Rod Lathe has been in the market for many years. There are a number of accessories available that will make your daily operations easier.
