Can anyone fill me in on how this was done? Very interesting - especially Tom's comment about eliminating the screw.

It's a skinned grip done per the instructions in RodMaker Volume 10 #6. Pat has cut/filed a forward hood mounting slot in the forward end of the core and used the screw to affix the rear of the reel seat. There are many possibilities in this regard when working with the foam core, carbon skinned grips.
I seem to recall Pat had refined the grip a bit and used a smaller screw/fastener on the rod he had in High Point. ........................ Re: February Mystery Handle

If I remember correctly he had the screw mounted right through the reels ft.
H e used a "flush head" type of screw to make it more comfortable. Re: February Mystery Handle

That he did Steve. I spent quite a lot of time at his booth, watching him do a skin wrap, and I eyed that baby over good. He also had some beautiful skin wrapped rods there as well. Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
