Jann's Flexilite Tich Guides

Just a post of my recent experience:

I recently bought a couple sets of these for two inshore snook rods. After getting them banded on I ditched any buttwrap or other weight adders. Just D wrapped with an A wrapped hook holder. Also used a Fuji titanium tip. MAN this makes for a light set-up.
Gave them there first test today with 5 snook to about 35 inches. They felt smooth. casted well, and I heard absonlutely NO noise as some people have reported of these and the RECs. Also, they DO flex a little if bumped, they are not completely rigid. Not nearly as flexible as RECs, but they do flex a little.
Now for a complaint.... The height transition from the size 8 to 6 is WAYYY to much. I am rethinking using the 6's at all. Has anyone bent down the 8's to make the slope less?

Steve,
Why not drop the 8 and just use the 6's

I use all #6's as running guides on spinning rods. Use only 3 sizes, sometime 4 depending on the length of the rod and up sweep of the reel. But I've never used any Flexite guides either. Can't see it making a difference.

Like Jay, I rarely use over 3 guide sizes on any spinning rods. Depending on rod length, I would use a 25,(or 30) 10, and the rest 6's for starters. .

I too use only 3 and at most, 4 sizes.

Bang for the buck, these are hard to beat. However, I'd note that the weight is a mixed bag compared to Fuji Ti SIC and the Recoils - both of which are much more expensive. In the smaller sizes, the Flexlites are not as light as they are purported as I was told that they are lighter than the Recoils. The size 6 Flexlite is exactly twice the weight of the size 6 Recoil RSPGs. They are a tiny bit larger than the Recoils but do weigh twice as much - and also weigh more than the Fuji TiSics and possibly the Titans. I wish they woul make the smaller size Flexlites in even thinner wires.

In all thought, for the $, they do well.
