BEEN BUILDING CUSTOM RODS FOR 10 YEARS. AT TIMES I HAVE THREADS SEPARATE ONLY AFTER APPLYING THE FINISH COAT OF EPOXY. IS IT THE THE HEAT IN THE REACTION PROCESS OF THE EPOXY? THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPOND. More info?

Need a little more info. Please explain what you mean by separation. Re: More info?

I've also noticed this sort of thing. After spending ages carefully packing threads, burnishing, applying CP and epoxying, little gaps seem to appear between some threads. It is possible these gaps existed before I applied epoxy, but some gaps look so obvious that I'm sure I would have seen them before epoxying had they been there. DB Re: More info?

Dave in a sense you answered your own question,if the threads were packed and burnished, and the CP applied any finish you place over the wrap can not loosen the threads the cp should seal them and prevent any movement. The finish might act as a magnifier and any gaps would then be more visible.I have not seen any finish even without CP loosen a guide wrap so that gaps appear if the wrap was done properly in the first place that is packed and burnished. On an open butt wrap the outer threads might loosen if not wraped tight enough and no cp was used. tie off

This could happen if there were not enough wraps on the tag end of the tie off or if there was not enough tension on the tie off. You could have burnished to hard and loosened the tie off. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
