Should I fill male ends of ferrules?

Hi, I am new to rod building; I might have just finished my first 9' 4pc. fly rod. I am not sure whether or not to fill the open ends of the male ferrules though. I just got two other blanks to build up, and both of those came with the male ferrules filled in. Is there any advantage to filling these with epoxy? Thanks.

conduct a search for this subject at this forum. the subject has been brought up before and you'll read about different ways people have filled in the male end of sections. most of mine already come filled so i haven't had to do it (just the old forecast blanks came unfilled and i only used one for my first rod). if i remember correctly, some use epoxy, some use colored epoxy, some a dab of rod bond, some pieces of rubber or cork.

I use black silicone exterior caulking, waterr proof, flexible, cheap and removable. Fill in the Male ferrule with the caulking extending past the end , and when dry cut clean with a razor blade for a perfect flush clean appearance. Put a little dab of rod bond in it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
