Turning a Uplock into Downlock

Although I have never done this, does anyone see any problems with turning an uplocking fly rod seat into a downlocking one? Would need to add a butt cap, perhaps same as wood insert. Re: Turning a Uplock into Downlock

John, I know that for both Struble and Bellinger, many of the parts are the same between the uplocking and the downlocking versions of the same reel seat. Usually the threaded barrel, locking nut, sliding retainer, and wood inserts are exactly the same. The only difference is the fixed retainer. You should have no problem putting it upside down.
