Over the weekend a friend brought me a " Betts Fishing Tackle No. 2295 " By Betts Mfg. Detroit 19, Michigan (see the pic) it is a soild glass 2 piece rod, with a simple 2 ring cork grip, medium wire guides, spining outfit.
Has any one ever head of this rod before? What is more important to me is that the finish is a wood grain paint on very real looking, does anybody know how to get the same effect, I would like to Refinish the rod in the same finish and type guides, but maybe put a little more modern reel seat on it. I have seen the wood grain type finish recreated by applying one coat of brown and then another coat of a different shade of brown wiped on with a sponge which tends to streak the first with the second and make a type of woodgrain look. Would probably take some practice and experimentation on your part.
I have no idea, but that might be the same Betts Co. that currently makes/imports the crappie jig telescoping poles. .......... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
