what does one's shoe size have to do with the physics of rod length and surf casting?

The longer your feet the longer the rod should be? I give up. Is this a serious question or a riddle?

Steve, I first saw this in surfcasters catalog, among the list of measurements (the rest being serious specs to make the rod for the right fisherman) I believe they thru this in for a laugh. They asked for so many specs & measurments something like shoe size probably didn't click to too many people. Who knows maybe the were going to throw in a pair of waders?

A person with bigger feet might have greater stability for casting, thus could use a longer rod. That's about the only thing I can think of that would relate here.
