I have sinned in my heart! I used to cuss Ralph and that %$#&*^ LS 2000 like no tomorrow. Earlier today I made a "Color Stick" for lack of a better name. I wound two bands about 3/4" wide of every Gudebrod Nylon I own. The idea was to add color preserver to one band and not the one next to it. I wanted to see what the threads looked like with and without CP. (Incidentially, I found that with few exceptions, the untreated bands were far more attractive. Now, some colors need the CP, but not many. My CP expense is going to shrink.) When the CP dried and it was time to coat the wraps with epoxy I pulled out some of that %^&($# LS 2000 that I had set side. Why use my good stuff for this job, right? I mixed that stuff real well and applied it to the turning rod blank using an Artist's spatula rather than a brush. I was careful to level the blank, using a level. What a great looking job the LS 2000 did! Perfectly level and smooth. No Footballs on any of the about 40-50 wraps. Not a bubble to be found. I did have to breathe on a few to get rid of them. No dry threads on the ends of the wraps. (from proper leveling) I attribute the change to two things: 1) I have learned to use a spatula as vs a brush. Ralph told us so. 2) I am now very careful to precisely level my work before applying. No more "Eyeballing" it. I use a level. Sorry for the things I thought about Ralph and LS 2000. I should have listened to him sooner. Re: I owe Ralph O'Q. an apology.
