Do the Gudebrod metallic threads need color preserver to keep their color after epoxying?

Hi Dan-

Gudebrod metallic thread does not require CP to retain its color.

Godd Luck

Are you asking because the color seemed to blled into teh epoxy? This actualy happened to me on one rod. I used HT metallic for a guide wrap, and when I wicked the excess off the brush, the epoxy was slightly tinted Blue. It seems lik eI just have a bad spool of thread because I've never heard anyone else mention this happeneing to them.

I do my underwraps for butt weaves with Gudebrod blue metallic and when I put on color preserver, I usually put it on real thick and after letting it sit for several minutes, wipe of the excess with rag using my lath and the color ALWAYS comes off on the rag-

Thanks for replying, everyone.

The reason I asked was that I had a similar problem with a previous rod with the flaking. I used color preserver, and afterwards I noticed that the "metallic" had come off the threads a little bit and resulted in a sort of halo. It was particularly evident in the corners of the diamonds of an open diamond wrap.

Thinking the problem was the color preserver, I was hoping to avoid its use, which it looks like I can. But it also seems that the epoxy might also do it.

I use a color lock when I do not want my threads to bleed. I use a water base pc. I found out the hard way when I used a pc that smelled like air plane cement it removed my metalic color. With water base pc I put on 3 thin coats.
