Thanks for the web address and spiral wrap info.
Heres my question:
In New England we use alot of 8ft cod rods on party boats, mainly lamiglass sb1363m trimmed back, or their cod rod blank. Guides have been Perfection or Mildrum chrome plated SS or I like Fuji BNLG. Tip size range from 28 to 32.
Has any one tried to spiral wrap one of these rods?
I have a blank gathering dust and am thinking of trying it.
What do you think Tom?

I think you'll never know if it will work unless you try it. You know, these California guys weren't sure about used the spiral (Acid) wrap on their tuna rods until they tried it. Turned out they work great! I suspect you will find the same thing on the rod type you mention.

Why not be the first. Who knows, it might end up being called the "O'Conner Wrap" in that part of the country!

To advise non-Allcoasters to view that acid wrap posting without having been indoctrinated to our crazyness. They will really think we are all on acid out here!(Actually I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't something they put in our water which effects the common sense portion of our brain)

My latest creation is a 11 1/2 foot surf rod using Don Morton's progressive angle method. I cast this thing with everything taped up while waiting for the guides and it casts and pulls wonderfully. It was a temptation to leave it taped and fish with it that way, but I did that before and fished with a rod for two years before I removed the 'temporary' tape.

I wrapped a 7 1/2 foot Sheepshead rod when I first heard about the wrap from Trevan Tilbury/Rich Forhan and it's been pulling them in for over two years now.

I also have a 7 foot popping rod wrapped with the wrap as well as a 10 1/2 foot 'meat pole'. I use the Ralph O'Quinn , Don Morton or my method for making the turn.

Believe what you hear about the wrap; it's probably true!

I haven't sold or converted all of my conventional rods yet, but probably will when they require guide changing. C2
