Dale, The optimum spacing can only be determined by your particular blank's taper, your handle length, etc. You need to perform a static stress distribution test. Please use the search function on this site to find that information. I believe we had a lengthy thread on that very subject within the past 3 weeks. You can go to most any of the blank maker's web sites and pull off some of the generic spacing measurements. I agree with Tom though, your own static test will give you better results but will require a bit more of your time. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
